So what exactly is Pedal Power Cycling?
We are simply a group of cyclists with common interests. Those interests include: riding our bikes, having fun while doing so, and giving something back to our community through this team.
This year, the Pedal Power Cycling Team has decided not to focus on racing and results. Rather, we want to be involved in local and global efforts that maximize the use and benefits a bicycle can bring. Whether that is supporting a transplanted family new to the United States, or taking food, water, or medicine to those who need it most, we believe the time we can devote and the exposure we can provide to these causes matters most.
We're not about constantly trying to upgrade our racing license. We want people to simply get on their bikes and enjoy it. If that's while racing, fantastic. If that's while riding to and from work, even better.
The bicycle can make the world a better place. We're starting with Lexington.
The bicycle is more than just a recreational tool for competition and fitness. There are many parts of the world where it can actually be the difference between life or death, food or hunger, medicine or illness.
In 2008, Pedal Power Cycling will partner with the World Bicycle Relief organization to help combat illness, famine, and poverty. More details will be available in the 2008 team contracts.
